Reflecting on PYFA 2025…

For the past few years, performing as a duo at Gregynog Hall has always reminded us of the beautiful traditions of chamber music, but this year felt different. The house seemed to need music again, and seeing it come alive with students, faculty, and audiences sharing in that joy was such a full-circle, humbling moment for us. Honestly, it left us smiling and feeling so grateful.

One of the most special parts of PYFA 2025 was watching everyone come together through music in so many ways; students working on solo repertoire with our faculty, playing chamber music with one another, and then uniting in orchestral playing where every single person’s sound mattered. There was something truly moving about the sense of connection that grew between everyone. Though the group was wonderfully international, it somehow felt so intimate — a little family formed through music, laughter, and shared experience.

Our faculty’s generosity, passion, and warmth reminded us what a privilege it is to be part of such a dedicated musical community. Every lesson, every performance, every shared moment in the halls of Gregynog felt alive, and it was impossible not to feel deeply moved. PYFA 2025 was a truly rewarding experience, not because of anything we did, but because of the people we were lucky enough to be surrounded by. The students, the faculty, our audience, and everyone at Gregynog Hall made this festival something we will carry with us forever.

As 2026 approaches, we’re excited to take things a little more steadily, focusing on PYFA as a festival in its purest form. We want each year to reflect something new — a different approach, a new idea, a fresh perspective — while always staying true to our ethos of bringing music to young people of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life. With some of Europe’s most inspiring and up-and-coming musicians joining us, we can’t wait to see how PYFA continues to grow and evolve. Whatever form it takes, our goal will always be the same: to share music with honesty, joy, and openness.
