The evening opens with Shostakovich’s intensely expressive Piano Quintet in G minor, a work of striking contrasts, from its haunting Prelude and Fugue to its playful Scherzo and poignant Finale. After the interval, we continue with Dvořák’s beloved Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, full of vibrant folk rhythms, lyrical melodies, and irresistible energy.
